Does my camera support a shutter release cable?

I have a 1985 Pentax K1000 SLR, fully manual. Nothing in the user's manual mentions anything about a shutter release cable. There is an x flash sync terminal, though. Could this be something? Please help.

Well, a "shutter release cable" is a cable that attaches to the shutter release button so you can operate it remotely with a little plunger, kind of like a syringe, if you will (see links, below).

So, therefore, the shutter release cable, which comes to a blunt point and has screw threads on the camera end of it, will screw right into the hole in the center of the shutter release button itself, and, no, the flash sync terminal has nothing to do with it, sorry.

Oh, and when buying a shutter release cable, longer is better, so, if you have to choose between, say, a 6-inch vs. a 12-inch, get the 12!
